The HIM Specialist will provide coverage for, and assistance to the HIM Department.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Prior Medical Records/H.
I.
M.
experience preferred.
Coding experience/certification preferred.
Medical office experience preferred.
Ability to work well with others, and independently.
Proficient in general medical office equipment (fax machine, copier, scanner, etc.
).
General computer operational knowledge and skills required.
Ability to quickly learn new computer system applications.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work independently when necessary.
Good verbal and written communication skills required.
Must have good interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work well with others.
Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
Maintains and protects the confidentiality of all patient information in all forms (verbal, electronic, physical).
Accounts for all new Admissions documentation and communicating between various departments/ areas for obtaining all completed documentation.
Assigns ICD9 diagnosis codes.
Scans and enters all medical record information into the Imaging System.
Distributes, tracks and posts clinical orders.
Responds to needs of internal teams and external entities promptly and professionally.
Completes internal and Continued Care Release of Information (ROI) requests.
Assists the HIM Manager with the completion of external ROI requests.
Responds to the needs of internal teams and external parties promptly and professionally.
